Meet the Queens

Macy Harnisch

Macy is a proud member of her High School Varsity Cheer Team, and competes on the Elkhorn High Swim Team, where she gives her best effort at every practice and meet.
Macy is also a company dancer who loves expressing herself through movement.
She loves ALL things Nutcracker, and has been cast in nine separate full-scale productions with American Midwest Ballet, and RSDA.  She has danced the roles of Party Girl, Angel, Mouse, Cupcake, Fairy, Elf, Poinsettia, and Snowflake.

Creativity is at the heart of who Macy is. She enjoys singing, reading, writing, and drawing.
At school, Macy enjoys Brew Crew, and participating in unified sports, where inclusion, friendship, and teamwork make every experience meaningful.

She loves riding her bike, and taking her dog Pepper for walks around the neighborhood.

Macy has Down syndrome, but she doesn’t let Down syndrome hold her back.  She’s a passionate self-advocate, who travels regularly to Washington, DC to fight for the rights of people with special needs, using her voice to promote acceptance, understanding, and inclusion.
She is proud to share her story with lawmakers in an effort to effect positive change for people with Down syndrome.
Macy’s mission is to encourage meaningful inclusion of ALL people, of ALL abilities, in ALL places.

Macy dreams of going to college, and becoming a fashion designer.  She hopes to create stylish, exquisite designs that celebrate individuality. She also wants to be a voice-over actress.

With her determination, creativity, and kind heart, Macy truly embodies the Miss Amazing spirit.

She’s excited to represent her state of Nebraska at the National Summit this summer in Chicago.
